Social media is used now as a tool for communication. As years passed by, changes in technology
greatly affect the lives of many people, particularly the millennials. Great as it may seem, the impact of it
is beyond anyone can ever imagine. What does life look like around the influence of social media? Does
this give any good? Or will it also be the reason for self-destruction?
Some people perceive social media as a curse, but to some it is a blessing. Communication among
families and friends becomes faster and easier than before through the help of social media sites. This
further builds their connection- allowing them to develop a strong bond without seeing each other in
person.
Although sites like Facebook were intended to connect individuals online who already know each
other personally, some use these to form connections with people whom they do not know outside of
Facebook, that is particularly the case of millennials. Still, human interaction is slowly dying off because
of the rise of social media. The personal interaction that used to be the "norm" is being replaced with
tweets, posts, and tags. Seeking likes on Facebook and Instagram posts is now becoming a trend. It is
also the basis of popularity. Having more likes boosts the ego of the person receiving it. On the other
hand, one feels unvalued, jealous, and disliked if left unnoticed. This may result to depression and
social disconnectedness......
