Major new features in this release include a sexy new default theme called Twenty Ten.
Theme developers have new APIs that allow them to easily implement custom backgrounds, headers, shortlinks, menus (no more file editing), post types, and taxonomies. (Twenty Ten theme shows all of that off.)
Developers and network admins will appreciate the long-awaited merge of MU and WordPress, creating the new multi-site functionality which makes it possible to run one blog or ten million from the same installation.

ส่วนของปรับแต่งธีมมี ที่เพิ่มมาคือ
1. menus สามารถสร้างเมนูเองได้ (มีฟังก์ชันใช้งานเฉพาะ เปิดดูโค้ดในธีมเอาละกัน)
2. แก้ไข พื้นหลัง และ เฮดเดอร์ได้ รวมถึงปรับค่าธีมพื้นฐานได้ (ไม่ต้องแก้โค้ดสดๆ อีกแล้ว)
3. มีระบบ post type (จริงๆ ใส่มาตั้งแต่ 2.9 แต่ใช้งานได้ไม่เต็ม 100) ทดสอบตอน RC 2 ระบบนี้มีปัญหากับปลั๊กอินหลายตัว โดยเฉพาะที่เกี่ยวข้องกับตัวเนื้อหา แต่พูดมุมกลับกันคือ ยังไม่มีปลั๊กอินที่รองรับระบบนี้ 100% (แต่ระบบนี้ถ้าใช้ได้คล่องๆ จะเจ๋งมาก) อ้อ อีกอย่างนึงคือ แก้ไขระบบพื้นฐานเดิม post, page มาใช้ระบบใหม่ถาวร กลายเป็น post, กับ post type = page แก้ไขลิ้งก์หน้าแก้ไข page รวมถึงระบบเกี่ยวข้องกับ การสร้าง page ใหม่ทั้งหมด
